DEATH'S DANCE

Around her, death would dance
With so sweet a murderous charm
His advances she would shun
Adamantly she would not partake
Though her family gave to his game

With mother, to the moonlight sonata
They danced the waltz, and stole hearts
So swift and smooth, they graced the floor
With his every turn, she spun
Till she danced no more, an lost her glow
With her uncle, they did the foxtrot
Though his ankles were good, death was better
They tapped first, they tapped slow,
They rose high, they rose not
Death sealed it with a note.

With sister, to the slow sonnets
With brother, the la gazza ladra
Death was a thieving magpie
Stepping with finesse and ease
Till she, he begun to tease
He danced intriguingly around her
Weaving circles about her
He had them all save for her
But she had her wits about her
Took her time on when to start

He got her to tango
To his intricate steps
For the banjo
And she almost out did him
Before her breath went thin
