CURTAIN CALL

Curtain calls
It’s time they fall
You gave to the final act,
Your very best
It was good
But was it great?

You spin around,
Hands raised, shirt drenched
Chest heaving, eyes gleaming
Lights flushing, hands clapping
You savour the moment
The last hurrah,

You saved the distressed damsel
But is she safe?
The treasure you salvaged
You brutally savaged
The handsome hero
Their vicious villain.

The brazen silhouettes
Dance away backstage
You dare not look
Fog of a memory now pale
You would rather forget…
The curtains call.

Centre stage alone,
The standing ovation
You grasp it dearly
The mistakes you make
Resolutely beside you
Haunted !

Curtains fall.

bitterness

Bitterness I heard
Is a beast
Unlike any other,
It soils the soul,
Buffs the bold
Humors the cold

Bitterness I heard
Is a black hole
Swallowing all the sweet
Till you see it no more
Spews out hate
Till life you distaste.

Bitterness I have seen
Sullen the strong,
Wreck the weak,
Blind the wise.
Revenge they may seek
And doom they find

Bitterness I have learnt
Is best spat out
In the barren see,
Smeared over by a smile
And a forgiving heart
Before time is up.

Safe

PATHOGEN AMBADARA
October 2, 2012 at 6:49pm

Time abounds in pleasure
Much as it does in pain
Only careful are we to remember
The wrongs to us and not the gains

So hurting is a stab from a friend
Worse still an unforgiving lover
For scathing become the trend
In mind such experiences hover
Goodbye saying is such a task
A heart dark with hate yet easier
When the flame dies out of spite
Safe remain love with no pride

Gardens of summer

KENAN OBURA
August 18, 2013 at 9:17pm
Oho my… you get fresh,
that fresh is my gardens of summer
tasty, yet loamy and pure wet,
as if just rained on almost for hours
that you splash loud pleasures to my face,
awakening all my lost dreams of becoming one wealthy farmer
You come with water lodges that holds honey on lands of plains
that now convinces me you ready to be plowed, sowed and fertilized
making me watch, listening to birds play intimately on your ground
harrow you, and thereafter Let my sunny afternoon heat you up, drown

Do I make miles between your heavens
that now I may get you open like a book that I can read?
Spread you out in a line that would blissfully bury my seed
to wake up butterflies that come rest easy on your leaves?
Now if you stretch up and reach my sun like the blades of summer greens
I swear  you will be pepper. Just red, hot and spicy
In best ways to remain sweet on my mind like candy
That would let words drip easy from my lip to the palm of my hand
But go again make the mistake, drop them to your lap in staccatos
Just to hear clearly  the vibration in rhythms deep unto my thoughts next season
giving you just another reason of wanting to be plowed, sowed and fertilized

P.S.
Red, hot and spicy as pepper
We will never make love
We will make delicious
