ONLINE PRINCE
Mama bought me a computer,
To help me study
With a distant buddy,
She knew it was handy
And true it was
Until it was not,
When I met my online prince
This prince of mine.
My online prince, Ah!
He say I look mwah!
In a picture I just took
And put up on facebook
This prince of my dreams
For his flattery I fell head over hills.
Yet who he is, I could hardly tell
His age, only he knows,
His intentions, only god knows.
This online prince,
A ghost in the mist of the internet
Weaving a web so intricate
“Princess, I will give you millions
And a private pavilion
If your details you will share
And a photo if you care, birthday bare.”
He laughs at his false intent,
Lies and deceit
A false web mama helps me evade
Lest I lose my worth
And fortune too.
This online prince, hmmm!
Now that he is shunned
Picks to plan a ploy of revenge
Pilfers my passwords
Twitter, Facebook, instagram, snapchat
He snaps my chats and soils my name
Claims things I know not
Accrues debt I understand not
Ugh! Online prince.
Worried, scared,
Glued to the screen twenty four-seven
Searching and searching
For friends real and imagined.
Technology now a crutch,
Hooked in its deceptive clutch
Online prince, now online ghost
Mama steps in to save me,
The prince rightly reported
Tracked down and arrested
Mama’s advice now noted
“Your password is private,
Your sanity pertinent
Online prince can go
But e-teacher should stay.”
Technology should be my servant
I, the master, must stay.
